STUDIO POLICY

The Friedlander Piano Studio provides high quality training in the study of music for the piano and violin. Everyone here is committed to making sure the students learn the most effective and musical way to play the piano and violin. This includes lessons in music theory and lead sheet reading. We give our best to our students and in return we expect regular practice and prepared lessons. We would like for the students to have clean hands and trimmed nails. Please make sure your child has a tuned instrument in good repair and ample time to practice daily without interruption from siblings the television, the computer, video games, or cell phone. If you need the name of a tuner/technician, please ask Mrs. Friedlander.

COMPUTER USE

There are two theory programs available for use before or after lessons in the office. Students who are beginning to read music are encouraged to make use of these. Music Ace is designed for younger children and moves at a slower pace. Alfred’s Essentials of Music is better suited for age 8 or 9 and above. This should be done in addition to the theory books used at lessons. Parents please help students keep track of their progress on all programs. It can be written in the notebook so the next session can begin where they left off. Also, please sit with your children while they are working on the computer to keep them on task.

SPRING BREAK

Since students come from a variety of school districts and private schools there is no regular spring break on the calendar. However, this year, a one week break from lessons is allowed for each student during their school break. Please let the studio know when that will be.
